Description

A delightful and guilt-free dessert featuring light and flaky pastry filled with fresh berries.


Ingredients

1 package of high-quality all-butter puff pastry

1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Zest of 1 lemon

1 egg (for egg wash, or non-dairy milk and maple syrup for vegan version)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut into 3×6 inch rectangles.
  3. Place a mix of berries on one side of each pastry rectangle, leaving a small border.
  4. Sprinkle lemon zest over the berries.
  5. Fold the pastry over to seal the berries, pinch the edges, and twist to create a spiral shape.
  6. Brush the tops with the egg wash (or non-dairy milk mixture).
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a healthier alternative, use whole wheat puff pastry or agave nectar instead of powdered sugar.
