Description
A delicious twist on classic Sloppy Joes, this Cheesy Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread combines savory flavors with crunchy garlic bread topped with gooey cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup Sloppy Joe sauce
1 loaf hoagie rolls or French baguette
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
4 tbsp butter, softened
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Start by heating a skillet over medium heat. Add a drizzle of oil and toss in finely chopped onions. Sauté until they turn translucent — about 5 minutes. Then, add minced garlic and continue to sauté for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until it’s browned, about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the beef is browned, lower the heat and pour in your Sloppy Joe sauce. Stir well to combine everything and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- While the sauce simmers, slice your bread lengthwise and place it on a baking sheet. Spread softened butter generously on both halves of the bread.
- Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto the bread, ensuring an even layer. Top with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for about 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove the bread from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Cut into pieces and serve hot.
Notes
For a healthier alternative, try ground turkey or lentils instead of beef, and use whole grain bread for extra fiber.
