Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Arrange fresh cherries evenly in the pan and sprinkle with sugar.
- In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then alternate adding dry mixture and milk.
- Pour batter over cherries and smooth the top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then flip onto a platter.
- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
