2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 large egg
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Powdered sugar (for frosting)
4 oz cream cheese, softened (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- Melt the butter and allow it to cool slightly, then whisk in the egg. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry mixture until just combined.
- Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the bars to cool for about 10 minutes, then prepare the frosting with powdered sugar, milk, and soft cream cheese, drizzle over the bars, slice, and enjoy!
Notes
For a vegan version, substitute the egg with a flaxseed egg and use coconut oil instead of butter.
