Description

Delightful meringue cookies that are airy, light, and perfect for any sweet tooth. These cookies are easy to make with just a few basic ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale

4 large egg whites

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Ensure your mixing bowl and beaters are spotlessly clean.
  2. Beat the egg whites on medium speed until foamy.
  3. Add cream of tartar and beat until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Fold in vanilla extract and salt gently.
  6. Pipe or spoon meringue onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Preheat oven to 200°F (93°C) and bake for about 1 hour until dry to the touch.
  8. Turn off the oven and let meringues cool inside to avoid cracking.
  9. Store in an airtight container once cooled.

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute egg whites with aquafaba. Store in a cool, dry place to maintain crispness.
