  • Author: Nina Caldwell
  • Total Time: 33minutes
  • Yield: 12 twists 1x

Description

These flaky, golden Pumpkin Pie Twists are the perfect quick fall dessert — made with puff pastry, pumpkin purée, and warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. They come together in just 30 minutes, smell incredible while baking, and taste like a slice of pumpkin pie wrapped in buttery pastry. Perfect for cozy gatherings, brunch, or a sweet afternoon treat.

Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

½ cup pumpkin purée (not pumpkin pie filling)

¼ cup light brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon ground ginger

⅛ teaspoon ground cloves

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

Optional: 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts

Optional: 1 tablespoon mini chocolate chips

Optional: powdered sugar or maple syrup for finishing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Make the filling: In a bowl, mix pumpkin purée, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves until smooth.

  3. Assemble: Roll out the puff pastry lightly and spread the pumpkin mixture over half. Fold the other half over the top and cut into strips about ¾ inch wide.

  4. Twist: Gently twist each strip a few times and place on the prepared baking sheet.

  5. Brush & sprinkle: Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.

  6. Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.

  7. Cool & serve: Let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with maple syrup if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Make-Ahead Tip: Assemble the twists up to 12 hours in advance and refrigerate before baking.

Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4 days. Reheat at 350°F for 5 minutes.

Freezing: Freeze baked twists for up to 2 months; reheat before serving.

Flavor Variations: Add cream cheese for a cheesecake twist, or a sprinkle of nuts or chocolate chips before twisting.
