Description

Elegant madeleines infused with floral rose water, perfect for tea time or as a delightful dessert.


Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend)

1/2 cup granulated sugar (or coconut sugar)

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (or coconut oil)

2 large eggs, at room temperature

2 tbsp rose water

1/4 cup honey (or maple syrup)

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp lemon zest


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease madeleine pans with butter and flour.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
  3. Cream the melted butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Mix in the rose water and honey gently.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  7. Fold in the lemon zest.
  8. Spoon batter into prepared molds, filling each about 2/3 full.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool slightly, then glaze with powdered sugar mixed with rose water before serving.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results. Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
