- 6–8 medium Apples (mix of sweet and tart varieties like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Fuji)
- 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
- 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (cold)
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 large Egg (for egg wash)
- 1/2 cup Oats (for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare your ingredients and gather everything you need.
- Make the pie crust by mixing flour and salt, cutting in cold butter, and adding water until dough forms.
- Prepare the apple filling by peeling, coring, and slicing apples, then mixing with sugars, cinnamon, lemon juice, cornstarch, and salt.
- Roll out the dough and place it in the pie dish.
- Fill the crust with the apple mixture and dot with butter.
- Prepare the crumble topping by mixing oats, flour, brown sugar, and butter until crumbly, then spread it over the apples.
- Roll out the second dough disc, place it on top, seal the edges, and cut slits for steam.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 50-60 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Cool for at least an hour before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider making the crust a day before and refrigerating it.
