Description

Ingredients

1 cup honey

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large egg whites

1 cup toasted almonds

Optional: Dark chocolate for dipping

1 tsp vanilla extract

A pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Measure out all ingredients and have them ready to go.
  2. Toast the Nuts: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), toast the almonds for 8-10 minutes, then chop coarsely.
  3. Create the Sugar Syrup: Combine honey and sugar in a saucepan, cook until it reaches 240°F.
  4. Whip the Egg Whites: Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  5. Combine the Mixtures: Gradually mix hot syrup into whipped egg whites and beat until shiny.
  6. Fold in Nuts and Flavorings: Gently mix in toasted almonds and vanilla extract.
  7. Set the Nougat: Pour into a parchment-lined baking dish, cool for at least 4 hours.
  8. Cut and Serve: Lift from dish, cut into squares, and dip in melted chocolate if desired.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks. Make sure to use a candy thermometer for perfect texture.
